American Penpals



Today we got a parcel from the USA. In it was some things from Stanford Avenue School in Oroville , California.

There was maps, postcards, a class photo, book marks and Penpal letters from the students.
Sophie is going to take these things to her new class next year so they can write back.

Blooming


Today Kapua brought in a lovely flower and we decided that a nice place to put it would be on top of the class' Actiview camera. This way everyone could see it throughout the day.

What a busy day

We played coin rugby, it was great fun.

Today in Enrichment we went to Benidect's dad's work called "Super Dooper printers." ,We made our own diary books. We used lots of machines to make it like printers , a cutting machine , a machine that straights a pile of paper together and lots more.


I enjoyed when I was cutting a yellow book, with permission I got to keep the spine part. It was freaky but got through it. "Hozanna"
I enjoyed making my book and I learned to never ever give up so that you keep trying. "Cara"

Rugby world cup

Yesterday I went to the rugby world cup game,Ireland v Russia at the Rotorua International stadium. The game went for about two hours.
I nearly made a Mexican wave but the people in the seats were lazy and did not do it but I still had fun.
There were a lot of people cheering for Ireland including me and my family.
It took a long time to get ready because everyone got their face painted.

Weekly diary

Angus and Campbell worked on this project very patiently today as the computer was painfully slow. They did a great job of taking photos throughout the week but it was just taking far too long to upload them today , here is a small sample of what we did this week.

Sophie and Campbell's RWC video

Sophie and Campbell have used our Flip video camera to get some reasons why we like having the RWC here in NZ.


We are getting better at holding the camera still and it is now easier to put the video clips together on the computer.

We have learnt that we need to pause before pressing stop at the end of recording as the clips overlap when they are all put together.

Sophie and Jorja's raisin face

Today Sophie and Jorja made a fantastic face out of a pancake and a few raisins.Dosent it look cool and funny. Sophie came up with the idea by imagining it and picturing it in her head.Jorja decorated it.

Cupcake day!

On Thursday room9 hade a cupcake day yum. We were raising money so we can join Mathletics. We raised well over $200 - thanks everyone who made or bought cupcakes.

Why you should come to Rotorua.

We are writing persuasive letters to tell people why they should come to Rotorua for a visit. Here are some of the reasons why you should visit our great city.

Lachlan - Our very own World Champ


Yesterday we had a camera crew from Close Up in our class filming Lachlan. We already know Lachlan is great but next week they will tell the whole country.
Today we had wheels day to help clelebrate Lachlan's big win and he rode through all the students at school so they could show appreciation for his win.

Can you believe it snowed in Rotorua today?

This morning it snowed, it was windy , freezing and icy.
We missed maths because we got to go out to play in the snow.
It was a light flurry of snow and we had great fun playing in it although it felt freezing.

An Olympic champion visited us yesterday.


Rob Waddel, an Olympic Rowing champion spoke to the school yesterday. Rob told us about his life and how hard he had to work to achieve his goals. He said that he rowed over 15,000,000 strokes during his training for the Olympics.
Hannah thinks that she couldn't row that fast.

Spanish lessons

Sadly Miss Sendra has left to go back to Spain but we will be in contact again when she starts school in Spain again in September.

Speech and Drama Competitions

Last weekend Cara had a speech and drama competition. Cara was placed for 3 different performances. Those were two poems and one improvisation. Cara also did a play with her group called Alice and wonderland. When you do a competition you compete against other people.

On Thursday I made a hot milo store in the hall foyer. I borrowed the kitchen to make the milo then sold it for $1 each. There was a line stretching all the way out the door. Thanks to my helpers -Mrs Greentree, Mum, Libby, Dylan, Rlyeah and Sophie.
We made over $100 to buy stationary for Samoa.
