Milkshakes

Yesterday room9 sold milkshakes for $1.

We were selling them for fundraising for mathletics and because it was a hot summer's day.

If you found a star at the bottom of your cup you got a free milkshake or your money back.

Our magnificent baking day.

Yesterday we baked some delicious bread with Mrs Walsh. Firstly we set up the ingredients and pots and pans, then we mixed the ingredients.
Next we put the mixture into a silver tray and wrapped it in glad wrap to rise.
After it had risen we shaped it and added nuts and raisins to make faces.

Water springs trip.


On Wendesday the middle school classes went to the water springs near Pukehangi. We learnt that chlorine can kill bad germs in the water. We also learnt that the water coming from a spring is 100 years old.Then we found out that our water in our taps is better then what you buy at the supermarket.It was great fun.

Yayyyy!!





Today was the last day of the term. We celebrated with an extra long assembly and played on the ipods for Goldentime.

Grant and Jessica recieved Principal's awards for their fantastic work looking after the mini laptops all year so far.
It's great to hear you are having such a great time Ainsley - We are all really jealous of you going skiing - especially Mr James!

Hi Ainsley

Thanks for your update Ainsley, yes of course we are having fun at school.
Cody says he has been to the Antarctica exhibitian and he said it was great.

Today the year 4 students are going to a concert in town - the year 3's get to stay at school to do lots of really hard work!!!

Today the 22nd of June 2010 we had a poetry competition. The year 3's went first then the year 4's. Ngaio and Orla did 'Bullrod the Bulldog'and both came in first place. Orla,Ngaio,Samuel and Campbell all got into the finals. IT WAS GREAT FUN!!!

Whaka visit



Yesterday we went to whaka village to learn about their culture and watch them dance, it was good fun and I enjoyed it a lot. If you think I have explaned how cool whaka village is you should go there now!!!!! by liam:)

Goldentime


For goldentime on June the 11th ( Friday ) we saw a dog show. Harry's stepdad brought the dogs in from the Agrodome. We learnt that some dogs chase sheep with their eyes while others chase them with their bark. Harry's stepdad also brought in some geese for a dog to herd.

Writing focus

What a fantastic morning we had at the sustainable garden at Hannahs Bay today. Thank you to the parents and the volunteers who helped. I know that the students enjoyed the trip and have learnt a lot.
Over the next three weeks we will focusing on explanation writing, students will be writing to explain something. Click here to see examples and here for the exemplars to see the success criteria.
Our topic for explanation is, "How does a plant grow."
Please talk to your child about their writing and help them develop the language of explanations.

Anzac biscuit competition.


For homework we had a competition to see who could make the best Anzac biscuits. We all judged the biscuits on colour, shape, style and taste.

Mackenzie helped me make a batch of Anzac biscuits. I am not sure we were too accurate with the measurements but Mackenzie assured me that the chocolate chips ( she made me put them in) were tasty.

Did you know there is no such thing as rubbish?

We thought this bag could be reused as a plant holder, a rubbish bag, use it as a toy, dolls clothes, a shovel, to keep your room tidy.
We went outside to find some reusable rubbish.

School Athletics

Middle and senior school students need to meet at the stadium No. 2 field between 8:30 and 8:45 this morning. Students can support their house by wearing their house colours - no uniforms today. Junior students will break for lunch at 12:15 and be transported to the stadium for a 1:00pm start.
All students (except bus and afterschool care) need to be picked up from the stadium No. 2 field at 2:45pm.
